Aldi have opened at Stane Retail Park in Colchester following a ribbon cutting ceremony led by Olympian Bethany Shriever alongside pupils from Friars Grove Primary School.

The store replaces the pre-existing store on London Road and will be run by manager Karl Mitchell, along with a team of 35 employees.

The Churchmanor Estates company plc, together with Readie Construction Ltd have been constructing the £60m Stane Retail Park in Tollgate Colchester since last year. As part of the construction works Churchmanor are spending £2.6million on improvements to the Eight Ash Green A12 roundabout with a new four way traffic signal junction and the widening of the Western Bypass to two lanes between Essex

Mr Mitchell said: “It’s been a wonderful morning here at the opening of Aldi Colchester. It was lovely to welcome our customers into the new store, and I look forward to meeting more of the community in the coming weeks.Yeomanry Way and the Sainsbury’s roundabout. The works on the Western Bypass are nearly completed with the road reopened to single lane traffic.
