B&Q have started their fit out works on site this week at Stane Retail Park Tollgate Colchester with anticipated opening date of October 2021. The 81,350 sqft B&Q unit is designed as one of the first of their latest generation stores to include a covered builder’s yard and large improved garden centre.

The Churchmanor Estates company plc, together with Readie Construction Ltd have been constructing the £60m Stane Retail Park in Tollgate Colchester since last year with completion of the majority of the project set for September 2021, with the remainder to follow by December 2021.

As part of the construction works Churchmanor are spending £2.6million on improvements to the Eight Ash Green A12 roundabout with a new four way traffic signal junction and the widening of the Western Bypass to two lanes between Essex Yeomanry Way and the Sainsbury’s roundabout. The works on the Western Bypass are nearly completed with the road reopened to single lane traffic.

The scheme of 173,000sqft comprises new stores for B&Q, Marks & Spencer Food and Aldi with the balance of the space under active letting discussions with additional retailers.

Emma Proctor King, Head of Communications for Churchmanor said “We are thrilled that despite the challenges of Covid we have been able to continue with the construction at Stane Retail Park.  We hope that our new retail park together with the long overdue highway improvements that we are committed to will mean a new and improved retail offer for the Stanway and Colchester communities”
