Construction on the £60m Stane Retail Park in Tollgate Colchester is moving forwards with completion of the project set for October 2021.

As part of the construction works Churchmanor are spending £2.6million on improvements to the Eight Ash Green A12 roundabout with a new four way traffic signal junction and the widening of the Western Bypass to two lanes between Essex Yeomanry Way and the Sainsbury’s roundabout.

The scheme of 173,000sqft comprises of new stores for B&Q, Marks & Spencer Food Hall and Aldi with the balance of the space set for additional retailers.

The scheme will allow all three retailers to open their latest format stores, improving the shopping experience for local communities. The B&Q unit is designed as one of the first of their new generation stores to include a covered builder’s yard and large improved garden centre. Both Aldi and the M&S Food Hall retail units enable both companies to provide the full range of their retail offer, with Aldi having outgrown their Lexden store.

Emma Proctor King, Head of Communications for Churchmanor said

“We are delighted that Stane Retail Park is moving forward, and we have been assured by our contractor Readie that despite the lockdown they are all systems go and have confirmed with their supply chain that there issues which is good news. This will mean that we will complete the scheme on schedule in the first half of October. We have also confirmed a start date of 6th April with Essex Highways to start the £2.6m of highway works that we are bringing to Stanway as part of the scheme.

Discussions are ongoing with other tenants to join our anchor tenants, B&Q, Aldi and M&S Food Hall and we are excited to finally be bringing this new and vibrant retail park to the residents of Colchester.”
